How do we begin? First, we become mindful of what's going on inside our heads. What does this mean? Take a few minutes over today to think about what script you are running in your head. Observe those thoughts. Then, easy as this, make a decision to let them go. STOP THINKING THEM.
Seriously, thoughts and feelings come and go, they don't own us or have to stick with or us. Once you realise this you gain the space you need to observe them without letting them become dominant. You regain peace.
By treating your thoughts with compassion and without judgment, they eventually lose their power. However, like a muscle, the mind still wants to work to fill in the space where the negativity resided.
This is where gratitude comes in. Instead of looking for evidence and ideas to support our negative thoughts, we use our minds to look for things that are going right, to be grateful for.
